Selective Dark Mode Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 5, 2026

Overview

Benji Friedman ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This privacy policy explains how the Selective Dark Mode Chrome extension (the "Extension") handles information.

Information Collection

The Extension does not transmit, sell, or share any data, and does not use any data for anything beyond making the current page display in dark mode. It makes no network requests of any kind — not to its own developer, not to any third party, not for analytics or crash reporting. There is no tracking, telemetry, or usage monitoring.

Webpage Content

To decide which elements on a page are light enough to darken, the Extension's content script reads each element's computed background and text color (and, for form fields, their typed value's color) directly on the page. This happens entirely inside your browser: it is never stored, logged, or transmitted anywhere, and it is discarded as soon as the page is styled.

Local Storage

The only data the Extension stores is your own settings — which sites you've enabled and your slider preferences for each — saved via Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) directly on your device. This data never leaves your machine and is never sent to us or anyone else.

Permissions

The Extension has no access to any website until you explicitly enable it for that domain from the extension popup. Disabling a site revokes that access again.

Third-Party Services

The Extension does not integrate with any third-party services that collect user data.

Children's Privacy

Since the Extension does not collect any data, it is suitable for users of all ages.
